International Programs
International Students attending Summerfield and our students studying abroad
“A foreign language is not merely a collection of words and grammar rules, but a window into another culture, another way of thinking, and another soul. By learning a foreign language, we open ourselves to a deeper understanding of humanity.”
― Rudolf Steiner

Details on International Program
English Proficiency Requirements
We do not require English language proficiency for international students whose first language is not English, but students will need to attend English Language Development (ELD) classes until they obtain proficiency. Students in 7th through 12th grade will submit an English proficiency test score such as TOEFL, IELTS, or ITEP-Slate so that we will know how much support they need. Students who score under 80 on the TOEFL (or equivalent) will be required to take ELD classes for an additional fee of $5,000 per year.

California has strict immunization requirements for school entry. As such, it may be necessary for your student to get additional immunizations prior to enrollment. Please click here to verify what is needed for your student to be admitted to a school in California, or visit, www.shotsforschools.org. Please review Summerfield Waldorf School & Farm’s Immunization Policy here.

Yes! This life-changing opportunity for your Summerfield student to study abroad is included in your tuition fees. The program works as a direct student swap with a student from another country. You will live with a host family from another school, and in return, their student will come to live with your family. (Flights are not included.)
Our Summerfield Exchange Program:
-Summerfield Students can do an exchange for 3-5 months in another country.
-Students are eligible for the exchange in either 10th or 11th grade.
-Locations students have traveled to are: France, Chile, Argentina, Spain, Germany and Japan
-If a student is interested in a location where an exchange has not been done before, the school will support them in making it happen.
